Four of the composition team (Gerard K. Marino, Cris Velasco, Ron Fish, and Mike Reagan) had underscored Kratos’ odyssey since the original, bringing continuity and coherence to the magnificent God of War III soundtrack. The score is dramatic, dynamic, and above all operatic, matching the outsized story of the game. Orchestral arrangements are big and bold, with the Skywalker Session Orchestra’s brass section blowing up a storm while frenetic string ostinatos propel cues forward. The Czech National Symphony Chorus adds both humanity and divinity, with some cues led by snarling male voices, and others by soaring sopranos.
